Global Forest Partners – Forestry Concession Due Diligence in Indonesia

Tree Counting

Forest Carbon’s work with US-based Timber Investment Management Organization (TIMO), Global Forest Partners, is an example of it’s work in timber concession due diligence. The TIMO contract examined the financial feasibility of a large forest timber concession area in Indonesia. Rather than more expensive and exhaustive surveys, Forest Carbon was able to easily and quickly provide a highly detailed analysis of the commercial timber stocks in the concession necessary for the GFP to asses the financial viability of their investment.

Technical services for this project included conducting aerial surveys in order to collect high resolution digital images of the concession area. Subsequent post-processing of those images by Forest Carbon created a single, high-resolution forest map of the concession used for allometric analysis of canopy and tree sizes, resulting in a easy and reliable future financial model for investment by GFP.
