Gabriel Eickhoff – Director

Gabriel has been working on REDD projects in Southeast Asia and Central Africa since 2006. As a Director at Forest Carbon he focuses on project development, methodology development, field surveys and advises on REDD+ policy. His REDD experience has focused on both project-level market-based projects for the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance Standard (CCBA), as well as bi-lateral, nested, provincial level REDD+ approaches. He specializes in the design of project baselines, mitigation activities, MRV systems and implementation of biodiversity and social safeguards. His professional background is split between technical field work in includes field-based tropical forest and wetlands management, natural resource-based community development and technical advising on government environmental policy. Gabriel has held previous positions with Global Eco-Rescue (GER), the Borneo Tropical Rainforest Foundation (BTRF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Rwandan Environmental Management Authority (REMA), and the United States Geological Survey (USGS). He holds a Master’s degree in International Economic and Environmental Policy from the University of Chicago and a dual Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Anthropology from the University of Michigan.
